PSYCHOTHERAPY with MARCIA BARRINGTON

Exploring Therapy Together

You may be here because something feels stuck, painful, or unclear in your life. Perhaps you’re facing difficulties in your relationships, experiencing anxiety, struggling with low mood, or simply holding a sense that things could be different and better.

I offer a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly—and truly be heard.

As a trainee psychoanalytic psychotherapist, I provide sessions at a reduced fee during my training, working under close clinical supervision with experienced senior psychoanalysts. Together, we can begin to explore your inner world, identify the patterns that may be repeating, and uncover the parts of yourself you want to understand more deeply.

Start psychotherapy in London and take the important first step toward gaining emotional clarity and building greater resilience.

What is Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

What is Psychoanalytic Therapy?

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy offers a space to explore the deeper layers of your thoughts and feelings. It is based on the idea that much of what influences how we feel and behave lies outside of conscious awareness.

Through regular sessions, we may uncover patterns that developed in early life and still affect you today. By bringing these into awareness, lasting change becomes possible.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a long-term, exploratory form of therapy that helps you uncover unconscious patterns and understand the root causes of emotional disturbance. Unlike short-term or solution-focused therapy, this approach goes deeper to support lasting emotional change.

This therapy helps people facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, loss, or trauma. It also supports those with relationship problems, family conflicts, or feeling stuck in life or work. It can aid with stress, burnout, obsessive behaviours, menopause, addiction recovery, identity issues, disordered eating, self-confidence, sexual difficulties, and unclear feelings of sadness or feeling lost.

Why CAKE?

Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I spent more than twenty years developing luxury culinary experiences in London. I use the metaphor of cake—whether dropped, cracked, smashed, or simply good enough—to illustrate personal transformation. I believe adopting a playful and creative approach to therapy fosters an imaginative dialogue with our inner world, enabling us to enhance self-understanding and bring greater awareness to previously unrecognised aspects of our experiences into the present moment.

“It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self.”
